Bali Crypto Payment Ban Tourists are Unhappy
The community expressed a diverse range of opinions regarding the recent crackdown on crypto payments by the government of Bali, Indonesia. While some individuals found the ban to be reasonable, others were disappointed to the extent of reconsidering their vacation plans.
The response from the crypto community varied greatly. Some individuals supported the ban, stating that it was a logical decision. Conversely, there were those who voiced their dissatisfaction and even threatened not to visit Bali again.
On Reddit, one community member expressed their belief in allowing businesses and customers to determine the form of payment. According to this Redditor, as long as both parties are willing to accept the risks associated with using crypto, they should be allowed to proceed with their transactions.
On the contrary, another Redditor understood the rationale behind Indonesia’s ban. They mentioned that the country relies on tourist revenue to stabilize its currency, which helps maintain its value. However, despite this understanding, the Redditor expressed disagreement with the ban.
While the ban on crypto payments faced opposition from many, there were individuals who defended Indonesia’s position. One Redditor argued that the country was simply safeguarding its revenue. They pointed out that regulations are necessary to enforce taxation, which Indonesia lacks in this case. According to the community member, Indonesia sees its lucrative income stream diminishing and feels powerless to prevent it. Thus, they resort to implementing restrictive measures.
